When you need help, or have a question about a class, it's important that you are able to contact your instructor easily. Fortunately, Canvas makes it simple to reach out to your instructor no matter how they have their course set up. There are several places where you might find instructor information:

Contacting Your Instructor and Making Use of Office Hours

On the course syllabus the instructor will have a section with their contact information, which should include things like their COCC email, office number, and possibly even a cell number or personal email. If your instructor encourages you to use these, feel free to do so!

All instructors will have office hours available for each class. Take advantage of instructor office hours to request help, ask general questions about course content, lectures, and assessments, or talk about concerns. Office hours are dedicated to you the students! You may find their office hours posted in Canvas, listed in the course syllabus, posted on their physical office door, or on the faculty member's directory page on the COCC website

Using The Canvas Inbox

The Canvas Inbox, located on the global navigation menu, will be a helpful tool for staying in touch with professors and fellow students, as well as getting reminders about upcoming assignments, due dates, and so on. Take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Canvas inbox, and if you haven't already, check your notification settings (see previous page) to make sure you're getting the right level of notifications for your needs.

Look Out for Announcements Posted in Your Courses

Take notice of any announcements that your instructor posts in Canvas. Set your notifications to receive an email or an app push notification each time an announcement is posted to stay on top of new correspondence from your instructor!

Contact Canvas Support When You Need Help

Additionally, from that Help menu, you can contact Canvas support in order to get help with Canvas-related questions, bugs, etc. that you might encounter.
